イラクに暮らすユダヤ人の家系に生まれ、アメリカで生活するマイケル・ラコウィッツ。

タリバンが仏像を破壊した地、ベーミヤンの石を使って、1941年にイギリスの空爆で破壊された、ドイツのカッセル図書館にあった本を再現した。

会場では、その制作の過程を撮影した映像も展示されている。

この石の書物だけではなく、その石がどこのもので、何を再現したのか、その様子の映像、そして、この作者の生い立ちなど、すべてが、ここではひとつの作品を構成している。
