マルセル・ブロータース 猫へのインタビュー Interview with a Cat by Marcel Broodthaers

マルセル・ブロータースの作品は、なにやら、うやうやしく、黒いカーテンが敷かれた特別な部屋の中にある。

部屋の中には、二つのイスが向かい合ったおり、作品を説明する資料が机の上に置かれている。作品名は、猫のインタビュー。

インタビュアーが、猫に、現代アートについてインタビューするというもの。部屋の中には、あらかじめ録音してある、そのインタビューがずっと流されている。

インタビュアーの言葉には意味があるが、猫の応えは”ニャー”のみ。

ブロータースがその猫の言葉を”翻訳”して、解説の資料には、猫の解答が書かれている。

勿論、それはブロータースの創作だ。

インタビューというものの本質を、強烈に皮肉った作品。テレビなどのメディアで伝えられるインタビューというものは、あらかじめ、それを企画した者が、自分たちの求める解答を、相手から引き出すようでできている、と言っているようだ。

あるいは、現代アートの難解さを皮肉っているようにも見える。現代アートについて語られていることは、中味のない言葉で、猫の鳴き声と変わらないのではないか。
